I grew up on a tiny island called Mauna Kea, and it’s easy to forget how close we were to the mainland.
When I was a teenager, I had to walk out to the beach, and even though I had never been there, I still got to know my friends.
I’ve come to realize that Mauna Loa is not only the most beautiful place on earth, but also one of the most important places in the world to me, because it has always been where I’ve wanted to be.
In honor of its significance, I’ve been making a pilgrimage to Hawaiʻi for the past year to visit all the places that make it special, like Mauna Hōkū, Mauna Lava, and the crater on the Hawaiian island of Hilo.
I’ve come back with a whole new perspective on life and travel and I can’t wait to see how much more amazing things are to come.
In the coming months, I plan to travel to more places in Hawaii than I ever have before, and I hope to share my experiences and memories with you.
The first stop on my journey will be on Kauai.
